Release of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot

The long awaited for release of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon will happen this Saturday, August 4th. We will be pouring these for tastings starting today (August 2nd). The grapes for these wines came from Long Island, whose climate is conducive to producing full bodied red wines.

Release of Mountain Magic

We released Mountain Magic today. Mountain Magic is a dessert wine made in the style of a Port. It is fortified with Brandy to 18% alcohol and is at 8% residual sugar. This was made from Frontenac grapes which were grown in Dushore, Pa. Frontenac has naturally high acidity and a deep red color, which makes it a very suitable grape for making Port. Stop by and try it, we are sure you will like it!

Release of 2006 Cabernet Franc

The official release date for our 2006 Cabernet Franc is August 1st, however, the shelves will be stocked and sales will commence on Saturday July 28th. The Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon will be soon to follow, stay tuned. This Cabernet Franc is a blend of grapes from Ackerly Pond Vineyards in Long Island and Milnes Vineyards in Tunkhannock. The fermentation was done in open top bins and the cap was puched aggressively 4 or 5 times daily during fermentaion to extract color and flavor. Near the end of fermentation the wine was racked into new American oak barrels and aged for 8 months in oak prior to bottling. It has aged an additional 2 months in the bottle prior to release. This wine drinks well now but will continue to develop with more time in the bottle.
